The Oral Health Education course is delivered on a correspondence basis with all candidates being allocated a personal tutor who is available for support and guidance throughout the duration of the course.
Upon enrolment and start date of the course, learning material will be provided to include a module of information to ensure knowledge is gained according to the NEBDN syllabus. This will allow candidates to prepare for examinations. A calendar of dates is also provided to ensure candidates are working towards expected time frames.
All candidates must be GDC registered at the point of enrolment and have access to a range of patient categories and able to cover a range of topics whilst providing Oral Health advice, this is to ensure fulfilment of the Record Of Competence (ROC).
As above, the NEBDN ROC requires candidates to provide oral health advice to a range of patient categories covering a rage of topics, all of which will be supervised by a nominated workplace mentor who provides feedback on all documentation. The ROC also includes a case study of a chosen patient and an exhibition requiring evidence in the form of photographs to support a second case study. It is expected that the ROC is completed within the first three months of enrolment to allow exam sittings.
